This is a story I wrote a few years ago after driving home from California and seeing tumbleweeds blowing across a field. The image stayed with me and when I got home I just wrote this story about two 12 year old girls. It was published in the Southwestern Writers' Association Anthology where it won a commendation award. It is my first attempt at writing fiction, although I have written non-fiction for many years. I have a few more short stories that I will be adding to this site soon, so if you are interested, please feel free to subscribe to the podcast.
